Copying a Circuit

I have a design that uses the same circuit schematic/layout 4 times. Is there a way to capture the schematic and do the layout once and then simply copy and paste 3 times with different ref des for each copy? Alternatively, can I copy the layout, paste with new ref des and then update the schematic. What is the best approach for this situation? Thanks.

    Yes.  By using the reference designators followed by a Question Mark, you can easily copy and paste your schematics.  For example, U?, R?, C?, etc.  Once they have been duplicated, go into your 'Tools' tab and click on 'Annotate'.  There you will have three selections. 

    1. Annotate Schematics
      1. This allows you to manually change the designators of everything in your project.
    2. Annotate Schematics Quietly
      1. This changes everything with a question mark to a numbered designator.
      2. This does not check for duplicate designators.  To do this, you will need to click the 'Reset Duplicates' button.
    3. Force Annotate All Schematics
      1. This renames all components so that they are numbered in order from Top/Left to Bottom/Right

    I hope this helps you.  If you want to duplicate entire sheets, you can easily do this same method.

    The schematic part is easy in that you can use a hierarchical design with repeated blocks.

     

    On the PCB side there is no direct support to layout once and have it repeated. Having said that check out these previous posts.
