So what's the secret to moving traces that won't move?

So i have a design, i need to nudge some tracks around as they are too close to pads but while they select i cannot budge them. Normally this works but seems like i got my rain dance wrong today. Getting fed up with basic stuff not working.....

You'll have to give us more of a clue - feel free to send through your PCB if you'd like me to take a look.

So if i were to alter the clearance rules the traces between the pads and the left hand diagonal ones won't move, the diagonal ones should be free to. If I change the width of the traces between the pads so that they stop failing I can now move the diagonal ones so that they too no longer fail. There seems to be a lockup situation when the rules are violated which stops you from fixing said rule violation. I can send you the files if you want but I am certain it is not the first time I see this so I am sure you could also recreate it.

Another one for the bug list that will never be dealt with I am sure!

One quick option might be to disable the clearance rules to let you make a quick change - untick the box that enables the clearance rule set.

You mean the permanent work around to a bug image. The idea is that i can edit the tracks until I see that the rules are no longer broken (this interactive rule checker "feature") so if i have to disable it I'll soon have to re enable it, so they might as well scrap the ability to interactively check for rule violations.

(Assuming I'm reading this correctly) surely if CS can't move a track to a position where it satisfies the design rules then it shouldn't move the track?  I don't know what else you'd expect it to do.

No you have it wrong, I am trying to move the track AWAY from the pad so as to stop the rule violation but it won't let me. If i randomly edit the trace width even though still in violation of the rules i can then move the segment away from the pad to stop failing the rule. There is some sort of lockup situation that stops me working.

In Altium Designer if the interactive DRC was turned on, and you were trying to force a violation, it wouldn't comply. Try turning off DRC

Can't you read? like everyone else? I was trying to move the track in the direction of not having a violation ie move the track away for the collision. Yet if I edit the thckness of another connected segment to stot it's violation suddenly i can move the first segment DESPITE IT STILL BEING IN VIOLATION!!!!!

You would be the umteinth person that assumes I am making my own problem. The problem is called one of the many bugs that no one wants to admit exist.
