I updated to 1.5.2 (Build 30) and when I open an existing project, everything comes up EXCEPT none of the 3D models display either in the PCB or the Library. If I edit the PCB for the part, the 3D overlay is clearly there on the footprint, and the correct 3D generic model is referenced. I have gone to preferences/PCB/model path (radio button) and entered the path (C:\Library Files\3D Models) to the directory that contains the 3D models, but they will not display. Note that when I finished the project, all the library and PCB 3D models were working correctly. When I try to shut down Circuit Studio, it locks up and I need to use Task Manager to kill it. I assume it is looking for a path that it can't find, but I have no idea what it is. And yes, I have installed the library parts. They all come up in the library window with all the correct information, except they do not display the 3D model. What am I missing?
One other point. When I added the path to the 3D step files, all of the 3D functions started to work. I then ran a Design Rule Check, saved the results, and after that, none of the 3D models were working again.
More info: Today I noticed that in the 3D view, the containers appear to be present (there are red line cubes where the component should be in both the PCB and Library displays), but the 3D component is not there. If I try to edit the PCB model for the part, all is well except if I open the "3D Body" dialog. If I cancel out, all is well. If I place an extruded or step model then click OK, CS crashes. That means everything locks up and only Task Manager can kill it. All windows become black holes in the display. If I select a 3D model from a file, I get an error messages: No Preview Available and Error Reading STEP File. All of these STEP models worked previously, and were in fact working with this build (after some struggles). They failed when I did a Design Rule Check (no violations) and then saved the PCB file from the dialog that pops up asking if I wanted to save the modified files.
