Unwanted/confusing net selection by "select connected copper"

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a hard time figuring out what's going on with the "select connected copper" tool.

In the picture below I use this tool and it selects all the tracks from connection a to b, just like expected.

But when I then edit the track - purpose is for length matching - and I use the same tool "select connected copper" it selects all GND tracks as seen in the following picture.

image

There is no obvious connection from the track that I want to connect (SDX2) to that GND. Am I missing something?

When I use "select physical connection" it then selects the tracks correct from a to b, like expected. BUT the select connected copper also selects other nets, which is a real scary thing!

Any help much appreciated!

Best Regards

Jonas

Edit:

Has anyone else observed this behaviour?

It seems like the function "select connected copper" is useless. This happens with pretty all other nets, too. For example, the actual selected net (selected with "select connected copper") selects multiple nets, which clearly have nothing to do with each other as seen in the picture:

    Hi,

I'm not sure.  It works for me when I have used this but I have not used it much.  Testing just now on a board and it seems to work as expected even if I move things a bit.

Could you have some issues with the netlist?  Is there polygon that needs repour?

One of the ways I check lengths is to use the PCB panel and look at the routed and un-routed lengths. You can use the up and down arrows to cycle through the nets to see how they are routed also. If you try this make sure your selection filter is set to all objects.

If you hold the shift key and pick the nets in the list it add the nets (more than one) to highlight.
