Validate Shows Some Footrprints Not Found

stuartrumley

Starting my first board layout in CS and found this stumbling block.  Compiling the schematic shows no errors.  There are no errors in the compiled libraries.  I have added a CSPcbDoc.

I then run Update PCB Document and then Validate Changes.  Then I see in the Status column that there are a lot of errors associate with some components and not others.  For example, shown below, R1 is 1.00k RESC0402 as is R7.  Yet R7 has a Footprint Not Found RESC0402 message.  The Resistor library has been recently recompiled as has the project.

Any hints on how to clear this error message?

Thank you,

Stuart

Hi, Maybe verify that the search paths are included to the PCB footprint libraries.

    Hi Thomas,

I think I found the problem. The Error message "Footprint Not Found" like many error message sometimes don't quite convey the full nature of the problem.

In this case, I had built the 0402 package resistors with three Footprints; 1) Normal 0402 layout, 2) A an IPC standard layout with courtyard, and 3) A very trim layout used for RF and microwave microstrip. My intention being to delete only the desired footprint depending on application when capturing the schematic. Of course I had forgotten about the three footprints associated with each 0402 package and the CS compiler couldn't determine which to use, hence the error message.
