IMPORT DXF FILE TO CIRCUIT STUDIO V1.1

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi,

I want to import a DXF file to circuit studio v1.1. I tried it but it doesn't work. In the new version 1.1 is supposed it is possible to import DXF files. So I did the following:

I selected File>import and I browse to find the required file. Once I click in the required file, one small window appears saying "done", but the board's shape doesn't appear in my new blank PCB. Am I doing anything wrong?

Looking forward to hearing from you

Best regards

Javier

Did this ever get resolved.  I'm having the same issue, the log shows:

    Section : Import Document - C:\Users\...\Downloads\oshw.dxf

ERROR: Exception raised! Class not registered

    Hi,

I have the same problem using CS 1.3.  Have tried different versions of .dxf and .dwg, nothing helps.

The function is described in the tutorial video Tutorial - Create and Edit Board shapes on Altium CircuitStudio, available at:

CircuitStudio - Altium's Professional PCB Tool

I suppose it should be a supported feature?

Am I using the wrong drawing format? Wrong type of content? Polylines, closed polylines etc.?

    Best regards,

    Robin

Hi to the new posters on this old thread.

Could you please send an email about this to PCBsoftware@element14.com and raise this issue and I will contact them offline (I'm currently travelling so can't engage directly).

    Best regards,

I just received an email from support that solved the problem. I will paste it here so that all who search the internet looking for a fix will find it:

"You may need to uninstall/reinstall the installation of TeighaX, the installer is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\CS\System\Installation\TeighaX_Setup_3.9.0.msi. TeighaX is a 3rd party utility used during import of dxf/dwg."

Apologies for the delay Eric.  This was just resolved over email.  There are normally two main reasons why the DXF file doesn’t import correctly and for you the second was the solution:

1- The import may have completed, but at a VERY small scale. Try Zooming in to see if the image then shows up. If it does you may have to readjust your scale settings. 2- You may need to uninstall/reinstall the installation of TeighaX, the installer is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Altium\CS\System\Installation\TeighaX_Setup_3.9.0.msi. TeighaX is a 3rd party utility used during import of dxf/dwg.  Setting the correct scale and installing/repairing TeighaX should get things working

    Best,

Thanks for making this information public.  My install also had not installed TeighaX.

e14softwareteam In future it's of great help to your users to make this information public at the earliest opportunity.  If this answer was posted here with the original posters question, then many of us would have saved time.
