CircuitStudio extensions

Puchacz

Greetings,

I am looking for any informations about CircuitStudio's (1.5.2) extensions, that would help import/export projects between Altium and CS. In Altium there is a "Import Wizard", is there anything similiar in CS?

In my "extensions and updates" tab I cant see any possibble options to purchase or install. How can I do it?

There is no need to download extensions.  CircuitStudio import function is on the tool bar under the file command.  Then you need to choose the file type and it will show you what CAD it can import.  See screen capture below for the resulting browse window.

You cannot directly import the PCB file from Altium Designer but you can export in the newer Altium Designer out to CircuitStudio.  I worked this way on a project a few months ago when we did PCB floorplanning in CS and then had someone else complete layout and routing in AD.  I was able to bring in the exported file and then complete the PCB.  This doesn't help if you are trying to import an existing AD PCB design (e.g. from a reference design).  But it does seem to provide a solution for working together.

I should add that you can just open library files and schematic files from AD to CS and back.  I think the project files also work.  If you define PCB rules in AD, they may not function in CS because CS rules are very limited in functionality to just the basics.
