Circuit Studio Issues

Hi

 

I am using trail version of Circuit Studio.

I am facing a lot of issue's

 

Issue #1. Specially with via's, I cant get the right size of the via which I had specified in design rules.

I went thought Forum and found the answer saying that I have to change ADVPCB.DFT file but I cant find the ADVPCB.DFt file in

my APPDATA folder. In fact I dont have any files related to circuit Studio in APPDATA folder.

 

I found ADVPCB.xxx files in program files\altium\CS\System folder.

 

Changing Via for every single one is a pain.

 

Issue #2. Via Stitching, No option for Via Stitching. One of the reasons that I want to buy Altium Circuit Studio is that it has Via Stitching which is very useful for RF designs.

               Circuit Studio doesn't even have placing array of via's. which makes life easy to plays Stitching via's around the board.

 

Issue #3. Some shortcuts are not working which were mentioned in element 14 for change the track width, changing Via size and changing Board shapes to circular/ different shapes

 

I feel Circuit Studio looks no better than a free tool like KICAD interms of working in PCB environment, apart form having a rich user interface and component Vault.

 

I hope this issues will be sorted in future releases.

    Go into your user folder and find CircuitStudio.   Should look something like this:

    C:\Users\Satya\AppData\Roaming\Altium\CircuitStudio {12345567098098SOMENUMBERSANDLETTERS}

    Here you will find the ADVPCB.DFT file.  Create a shortcut to that folder.

    Oh my gosh I hear you on that one.  Not having via stitching sucks for RF designs.  Buy Altium if you need it that badly.  I swear it was the best thing that Altium ever did for their software.  I had to place thousands of vias by hand until via stitching came out.  Sadly, I'm not using Altium anymore.  image  The best bet would be to place a group of vias, copy the group and paste them.  Then if they aren't attached to GND, go into your filter and isolate the vias.  Select the ones you want and change them to GND.  To make the selection easier, change the default GND via type to have a different setting like no tenting on bottom or something like that.

    ???  Shortcuts aren't even close to the same as Altium.

    Thanks James,

     

    I managed to change my default VIA size. AppData folder is hidden in my P.

     

    I hope they will fix the issues with VIA and track width and release a new update ASAP.
