Net Classes do not persist

gussabina

Hello All:

It seems that there is a problem with Circuit Studio regarding Net Classes as I create them but at some point (after running a Design Rules check ?) the Classes are lost.

Is anyone also having this issue?

Thanks

Gus

    Hi Gus.

    Could this be occurring when you forward annotate from schematic to PCB (Project > Update PCB Document)? If the classes are not present in the schematic then it will try to update the PCB to match, this may potentially delete the classes if you only defined them on the PCB and never updated the schematic.

    Hello Peter:

    Yes, this exactly what was happening. I did not know I had to do that.

    Thanks

    Gus

    Peter:

    From the PCB document, selecting Project->Update Schematics I get the following message;

         None of the 1 differences detected can be resolved by automatically generated ECOs

         View Differences?

    And selecting Yes, the following window opens;

    image

    Clicking on second line, following window appears;

    image

    where update schematic option is disabled...

    So it seems I can't do anything from here...How should I proceed?

    Also, when schematics are selected, I don't see Classes option available...

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

    Gus

    The net classes should really be defined on the schematic and will then be added to the PCB when you run Update PCB Document.

    To add a new class on a schematic:

    1. Home > Directives > Net Class

    2. Attach the directive marker to a net.

    3. Double click the marker to open the property dialog.

    4. Change the NetClass parameter value to the class name you want.
