reusing pad settings in a footprint design

I have created the correct shape pad that I need for my footprint and now find that there is no way to duplicate it. So every time I need to put another pad into a footprint I have to start with the same circular pad and adapt it. Please tell me that this software is not that moronic!

Can't you copy and paste the pad? Select the pad, Ctrl+C, left click origin and then Ctrl+V to paste, left click to add a copy of the pad.

I tried copy and paste but that did not work, now that I click on some random place it seems to. I can't see any logic in the method but there you go.

The extra click is to set the origin of the copy before you start pasting, easiest just to do an extra click in the middle of the pad after using Ctrl-C.
