Creating a schematic symble with multiple footprints

Is it possible to create a schematic symbol (or multi symbol) component, that has multiple footprint options assigned to it.

 

I'm creating a symbol for a specific FPGA device component, but it has multiple packages that may be used, and I want to select the package during schematic creation from a single symbol.

  • Hi Mark, it certainly is possible. In the symbol editor make sure you have the SCH Library panel showing (View > Library), select a component and click Edit. The Library Component Properties dialog that appears has a Model section, click Add... Footprint to associate the symbol with one or more footprints.
