Circuit Studio doesn't answer when I created new PCB project on Windows 10 pro

Hi All

I just bought Circuit Studio license and install program on my new laptop which has Windows 10 pro 64 bit. I downloaded Circuit Studio 1.4 version. 1.4 version workes fine on my old laptop which has Windows 7 pro 64 bit but it doesn't work properly on Windows 10 pro 64 bit version.

My problem is when I tried to make a new PCB project, Circuit Studio doesn't answer. I selected "Blank PCB Project" and click OK button then Circuit Studio doesn't answer. All templates results are same. I think it causes from Windows 10 permissions but I didn't found any document. Could you help me to solve this problem ?

Hi, you mention v1.4 but there was a v1.4.1 release to address some Windows 10 issues amongst other things. Is it possible for you to upgrade and try using 1.4.1?

I also downloaded version 1.4.0 (Build 84) now and tried with windows 10 pro, it has same error.

You say you can open schematics. What happens if you try to open an existing PCB document (CSPcbDoc) rather than opening a project?

It could open and create seperately CSPcbDoc and SchDoc files but it couldn't create and open PrjPcb files.

It is possible the project file has become corrupt. Create a new project and then copy in the existing documents and add to project, hopefully this will solve your problem.

I can't create a new project. I also can't open created empty project files from another computer. Circuit Studio become corrupted on Windows 10 Pro when I try to open or create project file.

If you think it could be related to permissions then create a new directory, something like C:\AltiumProjects, and then try creating a new project in that directory or copying an existing one from the old computer there.

I also tried them before and I tried again after your words but it doesn't work. When I try to create a new blank project, CircuitStudio creates "Blank PCB Project" and "History" folders than it can't create "Blank PCB Project.PrjPcb" file. As you know I can open and save CSPcbDoc and SchDoc files but I can't create and open PrjPcb files. I think problem is this but I didn't found solution yet.

I'm also user of Circuit Maker and I downloaded it for make a test. When I create a project online and after creation click "Open Design" than Circuit Maker doesn't answer like Circuit Studio. Maybe it is meaningful for developers.

It is starting to appear that there is something 'wrong' with your system. Although there have been the odd reported crash on Windows 10, I do not know of anyone else suffering the problems you have. Is you installation of Win 10 non-standard in any way or not fully compatible with your hardware? Have you tried re-installing Win 10 and trying again?

Just a suggestion here.  You say you cannot open a project created on another computer.

Attached should be a zip of a blank PCB project I created.  There should be a blank schematic and blank PCB in it.  Hopefully, you can read these or at least you can get a clue about what is going on.

FWIW, these were created on a Win10 pro based computer.

Thank you for your reply. This also can't open.

I found a error and I don't know why act like this. When I try to create a new PCB project or try to open old PCB project, Circuit Studio opens splwow64.exe printer service and I think don't take any answer and wait for answer from that service. If I close this service when CircuitStudio waiting, Circuit Studio create projects and open old projects but I can't use printer service. Mr. Peter Barnard said change default printer service and try. but it didn't work. I will delete printer driver and try again, I will let you know after try.

Is your default printer on a network?  I don't know why CS would be trying to attach to a printer unless you attempt to print.  However, I usually set my default printer to a local PDF driver (e.g. Foxit).  Maybe trying something like that would help.
