CircuitStudio : Create a new footprint in an existing PCB lib

pat180269

I am new to CS so bear with.

I have created a project, schematics and a schlib and pcblib. When I open the pcblib I see the component I created and saved initially. If I want to create another footprint ( the second in this library ) how do I do it? There doesn't appear to be a menu item anywhere to add another.

The nearest I have seen is VIEW LIBRARIES, select component then right click and EDIT FOOTPRINT. But there is no option to create a new one.

    This is quite simple.

    Footprint:

    1-Open the PCB Library tab

    2-Right-Click on any component.

    3-Select "New Blank Component"

    Schematic:

    1-Open the SCH Library Tab

    2-Click the "Add" button

    3-Name the component

    4-Click OK

I hope this helped solve your problem.

    Hi ,

    In the instructions

    Footprint:

    1-Open the PCB Library tab

    2-Right-Click on any component.

    3-Select "New Blank Component"

Where is the PCB Library Tab? I'm able to use View--> Libraries and open a PCB library. When I right click there is no option to create a new part. This has stumped me for hours ....

If you don't see the PCB Libraries Tab then it probably isn't shown on your workspace.  It took me a minute to figure this one out and for a while I thought that if I closed it, I'd never get it back.  But it's there.  In order to show it, take the following steps:

1-Click on the "View" tab at the top next to the "Home" tab.

2-Click on "Library".  This isn't to be confused with "Libraries".  Kind of confusing since it isn't in the same area as the rest of them.

    Thanks for your quick response,

I'm close but no cigar image

I don't see 'Library'? I do see 'PCB' with a drop-down menu but no Library there.

Okay!! I see now. I need to have the library editor open then 'Library' shows up as you show above.

    Thanks,

    Brian
