starting a new library

I have created many libraries but the only way I seem to be able to do it is to add a new library to my current project and then I can install it, so each project has a library or two added to it cluttering things up as ultimately all libraries are to be installed. Isn't there a way of just creating a new library from the program without attaching it to my latest project? the only create library option creates an integrated library which is pointless if you have no linked libraries to feed in....

From the file menu try New Document.  Then you can create a new schlib or pcblib document.

Yes and it is inserted as part of the current project.

I did this without having a project open so it makes the file separate from any project.  As you describe it you would need to remove the library from the project as another step.

Ah, ok, well it's not the end of the world, just seems there is something missing that makes life easier. Creating an installed library from the get go would be a worthwhile option.

Another option would be to have a project dedicated to libraries always available in the workspace. Right click on the project and select Add New to Project to create a schematic or PCB library.

Yes ultimately as soon as the library is installed I can remove it from the project anyway, it just seems a cac-handed way of doing it either way.
