I can assure you that the webinar will not be trying to sell Altium Designer, it is dedicated to CircuitStudio.

I would like to extend this question as right now this problem is making a mess of things for me.  I thought I had a solution to this but I didn't as it seems having a project open is not a sufficient condition to have it get updated, all files in it must be open to 'push' an update from a library. And that would have solved only half the problem.  What I need to do is something equivalent to:

    1. Open project
    2. Right click on project and select "compare all components to library (PCB & SCH)"
    3. See a list of any mismatches (and what library the component was found in)
    4. Select which ones to update, and if it should be the symbol and/or the footprint
    5. Hit OK and the updates are made.

    Thanks

Ok, How about how do we import a layout from Altium Designer, into CircuitStudio, if we don't have access to to Designer and can't export it to circuitstudio format?

I would like to know if there is any way to do a global search and replace. Protel used to allow you to, for example, locate all text on a PCB with a height of 40 mils, and change every instance to a new line width, font, or whatever. If there is any way to do this in CS I have been unable to find it. I have developed workarounds to keep from manually adjusting hundreds of components, but it's still highly inconvenient.

How can I in an easy way perform an library update on my schematics. I can update a single component by right click on a component in the library but I would like to update all my components on a schematic?

Thanks for the great questions. To save you waiting I'll quickly answer.

To find components on the PCB use the top right search box, this also works on the schematic but you may need to compile first. Also use View | PCB > Components, you get a nice list of all components on the board and can click on one to zoom the display.

To paste and change layer is not easy. The obvious way is to copy/paste and then select the pasted items and use the object inspector (View | Object Inspector) to change the Layer property. An alternative approach that can sometimes be useful is to perform the copy (and select the reference point) and whilst the items are still selected change the layer using the object inspector - then perform the paste operation. The paste puts the copy on the original layer but you've already moved the layer of the original so no need to re-select objects to change layer.

Describe how to "find parts" on the PCB side.

Finding parts on the SCH side is easy, just "right click" and "find text". There's no similar function on the PCB side.

Also, how to copy and paste to new layer in the PCB library editor would be useful.
