SPOC-DUO – 4.5 to 8mΩ Dual-Channel Smart Power Switch Family with SPI

ImageThe SPOC-DUO (SPI power controller, two channels) family consists of a pin- and function-compatible dual-channel protected high-side power switches. This family scales both RDS(on) (2x4.5mΩ, 2x6mΩ, 2x8mΩ) and the feature set (optional adjustable slew rate selectable via SPI). This unique scalability allows complex load combination partitioning, optimizing board design and layout.

Configuration and status diagnosis can be implemented via SPI. The optional slew rate adjustment feature (only with BTS 527xSF devices) allows customers to optimize switching losses and electromagnetic compatibility performance for their individual design.

SPOC-DUO offers state of the art protection functions, including ReverSaveTm (reverse battery protection without external components) and Inversave (inverse operation capability). Both of these are important in automotive applications with high current loads such as heating and lighting systems.

FeaturesApplications

  • Family scalability by RDS(on) and slew rate configuration (only with BTS 527xSF)
  • 8-bit serial interface for control and diagnosis
  • Multiplexed proportional load current sense signal
  • Protection against overload, short-circuits (configurable short-circuit trip levels), overtemperature and overvoltage (including load dump)
  • Thermal shut-down with latch
  • Reverse battery protection without external components
  • Limp-home input for fail-safe functionality
  • AEC-qualified green & robust packages (RoHS-compliant according to J-STD-020B)
  • 12V grounded high-side loads, microcontroller-compatible, with diagnostic feedback
  • All types of resistive, inductive and capacitive loads
  • Ideal for loads with high inrush currents, such as heating systems (glow plugs, seat heating elements, or PTC auxiliary heating systems) and high-current lamps
  • Replacement of electromechanical relays, fuses and discrete circuits
