New PROFET™︎+ Family - Benchmark Robustness and Diagnostics in Modular Packages

ImageInfineon now launches its next generation of discrete Smart High-Side switches - PROFETTm+. The first devices are dual channel drivers ranging from 20mΩ up to 180mΩ RDS(on) in PG-DSO14 exposed pad packages. The family is especially designed to drive light bulbs and LEDs in the harsh automotive environment.

The devices provide state-of-the-art diagnostics and protection features. Its high current sense accuracy is able to diagnose even smallest loads such as LEDs. The very high short circuit robustness across the whole family is benchmark in the market. Based on the identical footprint of its packages, maximum design flexibility is given to change loads and devices without major modification of the board layout.

The complete PROFETTm+ family will consist of single and dual-channel devices ranging from 8mΩ up to 180mΩ RDS(on) and will be rolled out in the next 2 years.

FeaturesApplications

  • N-channel MOSFET with charge pump
  • Voltage-dependent current limitation
  • Overtemperature protection with auto-restart
  • Very high robustness against repetitive short circuits (100k cycles)
  • Highly accurate proportional load current sense for diagnostic feedback on even the smallest loads (LEDs)
  • PWM capability up to 200Hz for bulb and 400Hz for LED
  • Very low stand-by current
  • Pin compatible in PG-DS014 and PG-DS08 exposed pad packages
  • RoHS & ELV compliant
  • 12V grounded high-side loads up from 5A down to 0.5A (permanent/channel)
  • Qualified for automotive applications such as Lighting, Body Control Modules, Heating, Energy/Power Distribution
  • Various industrial applications
  • Capacitive loads like bulb lamps with high inrush currents or LEDs with low currents
  • Resistive loads like heating streamer
  • Inductive loads like electromagnetic valves
  • Replacement of electromechanical relays, fuses and discrete circuits
