CapperLabs Greenhouse Controller - Blog7 - Cooling Fan

It's been a very hot summer, and vents haven't been enough to cool the greenhouse - even with a green tarp on the roof and the door open.

The temperature inside has been over 100F during peak sun hours.

I don't like to leave the door open because any number of critters tend to wander inside.

I've been using a floor fan next to the door to help exchange air. This week I added a 6-inch fan and louvered vent so I can control it with a relay.

I've been working more with the LattePanda board these past few weeks rather than the Edison board.

I haven't decided what platform I will use for the final controller. I'm planning on mounting the space heater and watering system next.

So many projects...........

Take a look at some of the urban growing capabilities from the last design challenge.

You should find it fairly easy to grow them year round.

You might want to try to transplant one of your plants into a large pot.

If you do it gently and take a big soil ball, you should be able to move it inside and keep it producing through the late fall and into winter.

I have only harvested one habenero from three plants so far this year. I am considering purchase of a led plant growth and veg set up for indoor garden.

Are those Jalapenos?

Remember, peppers are heavy feeders, so make sure you give them the nutrients they need to grow big and HOT!

I have water from the house. I have some water tanks I plan to use for a plant watering closed-system. I thought about evaporative cooling, but I think it would cause mold to build up.
I also have a portable AC unit, but the cost to run it would be rather high. You are correct, something is always too something. My peppers are loving the heat.

Yes a farmer's work is never done. Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry. It just never ends.

I do like your setup. It will take you a while to work out the best heating and cooling technics.

Do you have a ready source of water? You could put a sprinkler on the roof and let it help evaporative cool the interior.
