5v LCD on 3.3v board.

Ok I have ripped an old LCM-S01602DTR/M LCD off an old explorer board and now wish to put it on a Pickit demo board (18f45k20), however the LCD is 5V, whats the best Boost DC to DC regulator IC to use to step up from 3.3V?.

    John, do you already have a higher voltage supplying the Pickit?  Do you just need a 5V regulator, like a 7805 for the LCD.

     

    As far as interfacing, check the voltage level inputs for the LCDs to check if they'll work with 3.3V logic inputs.  Any signals from the LCD to the Pickit can be sorted with a resistor divider.

    Hi Tony, I am aware of the 78xx range and I am not able to supply more than 3.3V, so will need to boost, to save the hassle I might just use a proper 3.3V LCD instead.

    It's capable of doing 5v from a 3.3v source and is cheap, small an efficient.
