    Hi,

As there is no specific HW for audio on the explorer16 board, the only alternative is to build your own audio on a pictail plus prototype board.

    regards

does the explorer 16 has A POWER supply to the entire board

and if so can i use this power supply to the audio pictail or do i need an external power supply

Direct 9 VDC power input that provides +3.3V and +5V (regulated) to the entire
    board

    Hi,

There is a 9V power supply jack on explorer16 which goes into a couple of regulators which power the whole board. The Pictail plus connectors do get 5V and 3.3V from there regulators. As long as you don't exceed the current of these regulators for the whole board there is no issue.

Actually Explorer16 can even power 2 pictail plus connectors (the second is optional and not soldered by default).

The complete circuit of explorer16 can be seen in the User' manual of the borad which you can download here : http://www.microchip.com/explorer16

    regards
