Mod Battery level via Intents?

boermac

Howdy all... I'm hoping someone might be able to help me here... I apologize if this isn't the right forum for questions like this.

I'm very much a novice at this stuff.  I know just enough to have grand ideas, but usually not nearly enough to actually execute those ideas! image  I do a lot of tinkering with Android Wear watch faces using WatchMaker to create them and then send data to the face through Tasker.  One of the ideas I have recently was to push the battery level of Moto Z mods to my watch faces.  Pushing the info from Tasker is very easy to do, but... how do I get the info into Tasker?  Someone who's more knowledgeable than me seemed to think that this would be possible by sending Intents to com.motorola.modservice.  He seemed to think this page has info on how to do it: https://developer.motorola.com/explore/software/mod-battery

Unfortunately, as stated above, my knowledge is less than extensive here, so I have no idea if:

1.) This is possible via intents

or

2.) How to do it if it is possible

If someone who got the knowledge could look and even let me know if it's possible, that would be a great help.  Any pointers would be appreciated.  My Tasker skills are bit more advanced, though I haven't done much with Intents in Tasker.

Thanks in advance...

Chris

    Mr. Boerma:

You're looking in the correct spot on the developer portal for that information (Mod Battery).  You would need to write an Android service that detects when a Moto Mod is attached and query whether that has a battery.  The Mod Management section on the developer portal describes this in detail.  Once your application knows the attached Moto Mod has a battery, then you use the methods described in Mod Battery to get the info you need.  I'm not well versed in the Tasker API itself, but it sounds like your experience with WatchMaker may be applicable here to pass that data on.

Please let us know if you have further questions.
