I got a z force droid the first day they were released in the us from verizon. I hadn't heard of them before, but I was in the market for a new phone, and when I went in the Verizon store, I liked the idea of a phone that would accept modular accessories.
I am a hobbyist, although my formal education is in electronics, I have been writing software exclusively for the last 15 years or so of my career.
I've been fooling around with arduinos and other dev boards for about 5 years now, and the pi since it was released, I've built some boards from scratch, soldering on the surface mount components, so I can build pretty much anything I want to.
My question is, what is the long term future of the moto mods project? I would love to purchase the hardware kit and invest some time writing code for it and the phone, but I don't want to do it if my effort will be wasted next time I upgrade my phone. Is this something that is expected to be supported in future generations of motorola products?
Anyone who has any insight, please chime in. I don't care if you are an official moto spokesperson, or someone who works for a company that is investing resources into moto mod development, or a hobbyist that was able to rationalize the effort because you see there is a burgeoning community.
Thanks,
Mike
