HELP, how to recover old (factory) android, after update MDK no longer works!

Question

I have a MOTO-Z Play that asked to peform update, I finally did allow it, but after that MDK is unusable, so I am afraid I need either to buy new phone or somehow recover the Android version that was shipped with the phone?

Please advice, URGENT!

Just to pool all of this in one thread, we are experiencing similar issues. we both have the z forxe droid. mine has marshmallow, his is running nougat. we can both flash firmware when in developer mode but when toggling to example mode, we experience what you describe.

EDIT- in adition we have a moto z and we get the same issue accross all devices.

Switched to developer mode.

Did developer recovery. after that we get MDK-POWERED

switched to example mode. prompts for moto mof firmware update.

Firmware update failed- EAGAIN

If you hit cancel you get

Firmware update failed EPERM.

I get all of the error codes you listed, as well as "Firmware update failed: -EFAULT." The MDK Utility is up to date as well as all of the example apps and I am running android 7.0. Somehow I was able to get the audio personality card to work by plugging it, accepting the firmware update and changing the DIP. I then switched to the sensor personality card and was met with errors again. Upon changing back to the audio card, I was met with errors.

Clear application data for the Moto mods manager service and reattach. That solved it for jlavigne08 and I.
