Blinky firmware - what is it that blinks, and when does it blink?

A silly question, should I see an LED flashing  when I have the blinky firmware flashed? Where is that LED? Is there some specific action that triggers the blinking?

I've tried both with the MDK in Example mode (Name = MDK-BLINKY, VID=0x00000312, PID=0x00010403, Firmware=000000A2) and in Developer mode (Name = MDK-POWERED, VID=0x00000042, PID=0x00000001, Firmware=00000086, Package Name=Default). Nothing is blinking, "MDK LED Light" remains greyed out and in the off position.

Technically either mode is correct, but if you are in Developer Mode you need to actually build and flash the Blinky firmware.  MDK-POWERED doesn't do anything except charge/discharge the MDK's battery.

That said, when in Example Mode your setup appears correct.  You have no Personality Card inserted and you're booted with the Blinky firmware since the "Name" is reading MDK-BLINKY.  If MDK Utility isn't enabling the LED switch, try closing it and re-opening (something for me to dig into).  As for the LED itself, below the camera and above where the Perforated board goes, you'll see a vertical cutout in the middle of the device.  This is the LED that should be blinking for you...once you hit the switch to turn the LED on of course.

Thank you. Restarting MDK Utility didn't enable the "MDK LED Light", but rebooting the phone did.

I'm experiencing what seems to be the same issue.  I built blinky firmware and flashed it, but the "MDK LED Light" remains disabled, even after a reboot.  This is in developer mode using the MDK Utility from the app store (version 1.00.003).

If I build and run the MDK Utility from source instead, the problem is resolved (version 1.00.004).

On a bit of a tangent, the MDK utility built from source lacks the option to switch modes (developer/example).  Is that intentional?

The published MDK Utility restricts the switch to only working with Example Mode (it looks for the specific VID/PID, since when using Raw it's important to be talking to YOUR Mod).  The open source works with the Example VID/PID, and for Developer (VID=0x42).  We may or may not update that, it would be frustrating if the MDK Utility kept opening Raw when it saw VID=0x42 but you're trying to use your own app.

The Play Store version contains some magical bootloaders that allow for a VID/PID switch, which you would not want in your Production Mod.  That is why you don't see the Mode Switch in the open source version.
