I am not qualified to develop any electronic hardware, but I have some ideas to share with anyone who is looking or ideas.
The basic idea is to make a very secure bicycle handlebar mount that uses magnets instead of other classic methods, giving it a sleek look and unobstructed access to all input methods of the phone.
The mount could stay as basic as that, but it can also be expanded in numerous ways:
- Make landscape and portrait orientations possible.
- Make the mount thicker and add powerbank functionality to it. Battery life could be extended by implementing a connection to a dynamo.
- Add a dedicated LED lamp to the mount and power it with the phone or combine with the powerbank. Another possible solution would be to use a series of lenses to direct the light from the LED light of the phone.
- Add a brake light that is controlled by the phone's accelerometer.
- Add a series of lenses that would give the phones camera a wide-angle view of the bicycle ride. Create app to record continuously, do hyperlapses or act as a "black box" - only saving the last 5 minutes after very sudden deceleration. A wide-angle camera would require the LED lamps be set in such a position, so as not to get to much flare etc.
- Add a wide-angle camera under the seat or a rear-view. Connect by cable for lower battery drain. Same functionality as the front camera.
