Moto-Z driver question

yileku
yileku over 8 years ago

We have a USB device based on the LAN9500A chipset (SMSC95XX Linux drivers).  So how would we go about getting driver support in the software for Moto-Z?  I notice that the nuttx configure doesn't have the SMSC95XX drivers.  Can we build an AOSP ROM for the Moto-Z that has a linux kernel for the SMSC95XX?

Thanks

Y-

Moto does not make available the Android Framework changes necessary for Moto Mods to work, only the firmware and kernel changes.  As a result, you can not add new kernel drivers for your USB device.  Instead, you'll have to use Android USBManager APIs so your APK can talk directly to the USB device on your Mod.

As far as nuttx goes, you probably don't want to attach your USB device to the MuC.  With Moto Mods, the USB data lines are routed directly to the Moto Z.
