Possible Business Mod. Chip reader.

I had the idea today for there to be a moto mod that can receive a secure debit, credit, and tap money transfers. It would have a chip reader, mag stripe reader and NFC compatibility. With this mod, one could receive debit and credit payments through tap chip or stripe. Phones could be formatted for businesses and could be used as menus and instead of flagging down a waiter they could pay on the spot with the phone. Or could be used for businesses run at home. If someone would be able to partner with me online to develop this as I am not good at building electronics.

    Hello there,

I'm sorry it's taken a while for someone to respond to your post. This is very possible, but just know that it's going to take some reading. image

Let me see if I can set you up on the right track as well as give you some resources to solving your problem. This is a very novel approach to solving what you want to solve by the way.

First of all, you need to find components that are micro controller friendly. Since the reference moto mod has a micro controller on it, you need to find something that is compatible with that MuC.

In my own experience, I found it very beneficial to implement all of the driver software on a raspberry Pi and then port software little by little over to the NuttX RTOS. I did this with an FM Transmitter for my phone. The testing grid is complex, but it's beneficial in terms of learning the system as a whole.

Get started with blinky to become a little bit versed in NuttX. Then follow the Moto Mod documentation on creating a new project.

Now, finally on to your project. I like it. image

You should get started with a regular card scanner, and then implement components one by one.

Look into this. PS/2 is a common serial communication standard that is easy to emulate with the above documentation. Get started by reading through the documentation and implementing it on a raspberry pi.

Using the CUI INC documentation, you can get a specification on how to operate any device you attach to this.

Remember that your device needs to be Micro controller Friendly. You also need to know which signals you're using. I2C? CSI? Any one of these needs to operate under given electrical standards.

Get started with this. And remember, keep innovating, and always be curious.
