Panasonic Capacitor 1000uf, 200V, failure concern

Hi,

I am at a manufacturer that has experienced failures on the rectifier board with the capacitor venting or bulging. There are three issues. Is the issue a likely failure, Is this real or fake panasonic part, have other failures been reported ?

1. We found the damaged part is a 1000 uf, 200 volt, capacitor part EETED2D102CAEETED2D102CA with a date code of 0921 (M). Our analysis was that the capacitor has corrosion on the leads which causes the capacitor to fail then the imbalanced capacitors on the rectifier board causes a voltage spike that ruins the electronics. Is it possible or a likely root cause to have corrosion on a lead ?

2. I attached a photo. Is the 0921 (M) code a real panasonic part date code and if so what does it mean. We are finding other panasonic 1000uf, 200V capacitors that are slightly different in height and diameter and plastic cover print font.

3. Are there any other field reports of problems on this capacitor.

Panasonic Industrial Europe located in Muenchen Germany.
I am Capacior Guy.
1) Could you send your picture which shows corrosion on a lead?
2)Lot# 0921M means 2010 Sep/21st or 2000 Sep/21st.
   But This product Lot# should be 2010 Sep/21st.

   Please let me know below.
   1)When you bought this capacitor?
   2)From Which Disty you bought this capacitor? Farnell or other Disty?
   3)What is your mesurement of this capacotor?
      Give me Diameter length and Hight length
      EEEED2D102CA should be Diameter 25mm x Height 45mm.

3) As of now I do not have information of problem about this capacitor.

1. Our supplier claims the capacitors were bought in March 2010

2. Noumally supplier buys parts from Arrow distributors but not certain about this lot #.

3. Measurements were 25.14 mm x 45.6mm with plastic label on.

Hello Hiroshi,

I have these Panasonic capacitors that have been bulging from the top. Could you help tell me if these are counterfeit or legitimate Panasonic capacitors? Any help would be great. Thanks.
