Dear All,
I have a question regarding Polymer Capacitors;
What are the failure modes? What is the FIT rates of these types of capacitors, compared to ceramics?

Hi,
The polymer capacitor's life time is much longer than standard technology capacitors. Because the using material is solid and it does not evaporate and difficult to deteriorate. Therefore, the most common failure mode is a short circuit, mostly in case of contingency failure. The FIT, the number of the failure rate, it depends on the examination condition; however these are approx. several dozen FIT level. Sorry we do not have the data of ceramic capacitor's FIT number; however ceramic capacitor has also a short circuit mode. because sometimes ceramic capacitor is caused mechanical crack by applied mechanical stress from the PCB board flexure. If you need the data sheet, please request it us.
Kind regards,
Simone
