Reason for stocking this wide portfolio and variety of resistance values is, that there is a significant trend in the market towards downsizing!
Of course 1 reason is to safe space, but the other reason is increasing requirements especially from Automotive market towards more heat-shock cycles. Therefore smaller size, plus soft termination contribute towards significant increase of solder joint reliability!
By using ERJP series instead of Std. Thick Film Resistor customer can at least reduce 1 case size by haveing same Power Rating!

I am currently using Melf resistor for Surge Characteristics, reading the above my understanding is that Panasonic Anti Surge would be an excellent alternative?
What are the advantages of using Anti surge? Are there any Advantages of Cost Reduction? Improvement of Mounting Speed VS Melf?
Is this series suitable for both reflow soldering & Flow Soldering?
