STMicroelectronics 6-axis inertial module: LSM6DS0

LSM6DS0 features a 3-axis linear accelerometer and a 3-axis digital gyroscope in the same package. Two operating modes offer high flexibility thanks to accelerometer & gyroscope running at the same ODR or accelerometer enabled while the gyroscope is in power-down mode. ODR can be configured to reduce the overall power consumption of your application which is meaningful for battery operated systems and wearable devices. LSM6DS0 is the first member of LSM6DS family which delivers excellent 6-axis performances to enhance end-user experience. It is housed in a small package for easier integration in connected devices.

  • 6-axis inertial module
    • ±2/±4/±8 g linear acceleration full scale, 16 bit resolution
    • ±245/±500/±2000 dps angular rate full scale, 16 bit resolution
  • SPI / I2C serial interfaces
  • Data synchronization: Accelerometer + Gyroscope for easy and accurate software sensor fusion
  • Supply voltage range from 1.71 V to 3.6 V
  • 1.8 V Supply voltage compatible with 2 primary cells
  • Power-down mode / low-power mode
    • 60 µA for Accelerometer (@10 Hz)
    • 1.8 mA for Gyroscope (@14.9 Hz)
  • Programmable interrupt generators and data ready signal for MCU synchronization
  • Embedded self-test & FIFO for both accelerometer & gyroscope
  • Embedded temperature sensor
  • Fast turn-on-time
  • Small package 3x3x0.9 mm² (pin-out compatible with L3GD20H)

    Is this an event of some sorts or just a "new" product. I have tried to use this IC before (check my rocket project) but the documentation is lacking. I am still hoping to us it since I was able to get help from ST directly through work but I pity the average guy that doesn't have that in. I am therefore hoping this is a webinar or an event on how to use this IC to its fullest.
