German Aerospace Center (DLR) and ‘spin-off’ Intelligence on Wheels (IoW) GmbH are providing equipment, including Xsens’ latest MTi 600-series, for Deutsche Bahn's "Advanced TrainLab".
They are using synchronized data from multiple sensors to measure the magnetic field, with the aim of improving safety in trains.
This test-train is a class 605 ICE-TD and can be used anywhere in DB's railway network, with a top speed of 200 km/h. With over twenty sensors, this setup enables a wide range of tests to be conducted while the train is in motion.
Here’s a sneak peek inside.
