Maybe you could try applying solder balls: https://www.pcbbuy.com/news/How-to-make-a-solder-ball.html re-balling is a fairly standard process for smt rework, but not a normal hobby process.

Ha, this site has the same colour design as e14, I was confused for a while.

Brilliant idea with the solder balls. This would make placement and hot air/reflow much easier at home.
