Breaking out pins on a 2.54 header

I'm tight for space on a PCB I am designing and was going to use the space between the pin pads to route traces. Can this be done using KiCad? If yes, could you provide some insight into the setup?

I have seen PCB that route traces between pins on headers. I have no experience doing this mainly because I'm old. When this was done many years ago the traces were never reliable when they etched. That has all changed since the 80's. I now see traces routed between pins. I would like to use this technique in a board I am designing. I'm hoping someone who has hoed the row, would share the setup for KiCad that makes it successful.

I'm worming through 2.54 header pins in this KiCad design ( Programmable Electronic Load ): I didn't have issues to do that. I can share the project if that helps.

Hi Sean, Jan's screenshot shows you can easily route a trace reliably between pads. There are some settings of trace widths (and other settings) screenshots here: (+) KiCad 6 Unofficial Quick Start…

You can go right in the middle as well - just adjust the grid (or the secondary grid) so that it will have one in the midpoint. It's perfectly OK not to cross in the middle, for me it's a visual standard…

Phew two heavy hitters acknowledge that this will work is endorsement for me. Thanks folks for sharing your experience.
