Funway into SME (Surface Mount Electronics)

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to let everyone know I have started a new video series called “Funway into SME” (Surface Mount Electronics)

What I am doing is going through the old DSE Funway volumes 2 and 3 and converting them into modernised versions of the original projects, including updating the circuit’s to remove components difficult to source. And also add some power efficiency.

As the series progresses I’ll post a link to each video in the series. I have even had to create my own funway videos to provide the needed building blocks for the more advanced projects, due to changing the way components interact in the old circuits.

Part of the series is first showing how to hand solder Surface Mount Components then progress onto using stencils and board heater/reflow ovens.

And as each project video gets released, I'll be running a give away competition for each one of the projects!

The introductory video can be found here

So the first project video is up its a long 48 minute video, but over the next few days I'll also release it as 3 separate videos for those that want to watch separate sections at a time.

Hi Paul, Here is some feedback: * The intro sequence could be shortened. 10 seconds feels too long to hold people's attention. Maybe just display your title for 10 seconds but start talking after just…

Thanks for sharing this, I have never read *** Smiths's books so I'm interested to learn more!

There is at least one volume on archive.org.

    Great work!
