Element14 does not customise their stock enclosures

HKPhysicist
HKPhysicist over 1 year ago

Hello Friends,

I am new here.

I have shopped several times on Element14.  I like their price tags and services.

For my current project, I am looking for a small plastic or aluminium enclosures.  I have found 2 target enclosures made by Hammond listed on Element14.  However, Element14 service person replied me that they did not customise my target enclosures.

Without customisation, stock enclosures may be of little values in large number production.

Do you agree on my opinion? Smirk

    I believe that's done by Hammond themselves. https://www.hammfg.com/electronics/small-case/mods https://www.hammfg.com/electrical/mods

If looking for one-offs, and you're not aiming for IP67 etc. then another option is to use a 3D printing service. There's quite a few around and there's some low cost options too (e.g. ***, jlcpcb etc…

I don't know where you are based but in the UK it's almost always cheaper to get a local machine shop to modify stock boxes until the numbers get quite big. It also give a you a lot more flexibility…

"...Element14 does not customise their stock enclosures..."

Farnell appear to be able to offer customisation of a lot of their stock Hammond enclosures

    Low Minimum Orders.
Typically, the minimum order is 25 units.

That is great for small project and market gauging! Grinning

No IP67 is required.  Mine is an indoor little passive 5V DC instrument.

Yes, 3D printing is also a good alternative as it can print logo, legends, etc, in one print job. Relaxed
