this is sequel to my first blog last week at GraspIO - IoT for non programmer - Part #1
I have to say after much troubleshooting i got the raspbio to work
By right graspio mention it will have dc motor control, but it has not happened yet. hence i use a motor driver to drive the motor instead, and graspio is merely providing control signal
to turn on and off
however, i felt it has few drawback
-not supported on raspberry pi 3B+ . luckily i manage to grab hold of a raspberry pi 1A to test. what's frustrating on graspio website it mention raspberry pi 3 is supported...causing
me hours of troubleshooting
-one of the IO pin seems spoilt.....may be i am really non programmer and has fried it accidentally, but somehow i never get it to work
it is only after much headache i decide to change to another port then everything seems working
-the hotspot twinkle never works and very frustrating
-even wifi twinkle is depending on the wifi that we connect to.
my experiment is nothing fancy, but just a simple program to let it turn on and off an motor, change the picture on the LCD screen, and light up the LED, and make some noise
however, considering that i am a chemical engineer by training, this is fun enough. But i do find the graspio is not as easy as it claim to be
my super simple programming. the programming itself is fun and easy but getting the hardware setup to reach this stage is a nightmare. i had wanted
to showcase this to my primary school daughter and son, and get them do it, but after the hassle i give up. perhaps i should revisit it in the future but i can see that graspio has got
no update for long time (more than a year). some feature like dc motor control also never occurs.
