In last years I used most time used Raspberry Pi for some kind of long-term automation. For example, last few months two of my Raspberry Pies was running experiments (one Rpi 4B and one 3B+) to evaluate…

I already have a Raspberry Pi Zero; I tried desktop on it, but Zero doesn't have processing power, which is why I need a Raspberry Pi 5.

I would probably set this up as a server to receive weather information, and display it on a smart mirror. It would get weather info from the home built station in my backyard.

I've been putting together components for a large-scale 3D scanner using the concepts and/software from OpenScan but with multiple cameras and a larger FoV.

Since the Pi5 is supposed to support dual cameras this seems like a great place to start

I would surprise my friends with the upgrade for our robot. We are currently building a robot for a compilation, using a rpi3 that we found on Facebook Marketplace for $20. An rpi5 would be the best upgrade possible for our team, and would make it so much easier to code. To give you some perspective on how bad our rpi3 is, we’ve chosen to not use any methods in our code because it requires extra processing power and basically cuts the robots speed in half comparing to not using methods.

    Hello fellow tech enthusiasts! Rocket

Given the advanced capabilities and features of the Raspberry Pi 5, I'd love to create a "Smart Sustainable Garden". Herb

    Features:

    1. AI-Driven Plant Recognition: Simply hover over a plant, and the Raspberry Pi 5 will identify it, offering insights into its ideal growth conditions.

    2. Climate Control: Using additional sensors, the system will monitor temperature, humidity, and soil moisture. If any of the parameters are outside the ideal range for the recognized plants, users will get real-time feedback. For indoor plants, it can even be paired with smart devices to automatically adjust environmental conditions!

    3. Recycling Water System: A connected rainwater collector will gather and purify rainwater. When the soil sensors detect dry conditions, it will automatically water the plants.

    4. Interactive Learning Platform: For kids and adults alike, there will be a touch screen interface where users can learn more about each plant, its history, benefits, and care tips.

    5. Community Sharing: This isn’t just a personal garden. Users can share their garden's progress, swap tips, and even arrange plant swaps with other local hobbyists. It's sustainability and community, together.

    6. Solar Power Integration: To make it eco-friendlier, a solar panel attachment can power the entire system, ensuring it remains off-grid and reduces its carbon footprint.

By merging technology and nature, we can create a space that educates, inspires, and contributes to a greener planet. It's more than a project; it's a movement towards sustainable living. Let's make green tech truly green! Earth americasGreen heart

If I won (and even if I don't win) I plan on using the raspberry pi 5 for (motorhome) automation. Were planning on doing a lot of traveling and fixing up a very low mileage vintage motorhome and plan on using the pi to monitor temperatures in various areas inside the motorhome, log air quality, monitor tank volumes (grey, black and fresh water), remotely turn on or off ac or furnace, log weather from another project I've been working on and a handful of other things.

I do plan on documenting the build for all of tech stuff I'm doing and publishing. Purple heart
