A ‘Powered by Raspberry Pi’ success story - ’Anna’ the Smart Mirror AirNodes IoT Design House will share their experience of designing ’Anna’ the Smart Mirror installed in prestigious hotels in France like the K2 Palace, Courchevel and Hotel Pashmina, Val Thorens.
Presenter	Eben Upton is a founder and former trustee of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, and now CEO of Raspberry Pi Trading Ltd. He is also a technical director and ASIC architect for Broadcom.

Will the only topic be the Smart Mirror? I don't mind hearing about that, but the name of the webinar is "Industrial Uses for Raspberry Pi". This sounds "commercial" to me rather than "industrial".

Also, if we are discussing industrial, shouldn't the discussion be more on the RSP CM3 modules instead of the standard Raspberry PI? Suggesting that the standard Raspberry PI should be used in industrial…

Once again, had trouble getting into the webinar as Chrome dd not want to play nice with Debian Linux. Then , as one tries to get in, your are locked out once the webinar has started. Also did not help that the internet dropped. Must all fall under Murphy's Law. I'll wait for the recording.

Sure, send me an email to tgatliff@gatliff.com if you want some company projects I built using the CM3. However, I am certainly not alone in using it. There are many industrial companies using the CM3, which is why I was confused by this webinar when I saw it. While I build custom hardware for the food industry, there are also generic industrial IO hardware companies out there as well. If you are interested, check out the Revolution P link below. Im not a huge fan of their bridge bus, but it is perfect for 10ms time slicing type IO applications.

The key thing to keep in mind is that in the industrial space, there is no value in telling anyone I am using a raspberry pi. I use them simply because of their very low cost, and I am certainly not alone in doing this. Meaning, they are being used in allot more industrial applications than I suspect Eben and Co realize.

As a professional EE industrial designer/consultant, I can confidently say that the the regular Raspberry Pi board is not appropriate for use in industrial environments. However, I use the CM3 module everyday in many industrial applications. It also works outstandingly in potted (IP69K) and unpotted (< IP67) applications.
