Raspberry Pi Boot Camp

I thought it ironic, that I am working on a Raspberry Pi Boot Camp for the local high school and I stumble across the posting for Pi Day 2020 - New Raspberry Pi Tips eBook and Blog Roundup . Of course I had to download the ebook. Thanks E14. To bad I couldn't have planned the boot camp for this weekend. Not possible, I was waiting for Newark to ship me the Pi3B+ SBC. It arrived this week. Now that I have the hardware I can start sticking pins in dates.

The camp is open to members of the local high school lunch time, Computer Club. It is common for students participate in weekend sporting tournaments. I thought, why not host an event for computer athletes. The camp is being held on a weekend. It is a one day event to develop computer skills by setting up a Raspberry Pi. At the end of the day, students will walk away with their own working Raspberry Pi. Local businesses are providing resources to make the day possible. There are no costs to students that attend.

Who thought retirement from a 40 years in technology could be such fun? Enjoy you Pi on the day folks.

Wow. Makes me want to go back to high school (almost). We never had anything like that.

I like working with young people, they always come up with creative ways to solve problems.

It didn't seem reasonable after working in technology for 40 years, to walk away from it all, into retirement. Investigating problems and using technology as a solution, I absolutely loved in my career…

It didn't seem reasonable after working in technology for 40 years, to walk away from it all, into retirement. Investigating problems and using technology as a solution, I absolutely loved in my career. Demands with not enough budget, not enough resources and unrealistic scheduled made me hate the job.

A year before retiring I starting exploring what was reasonable. How could I stay connected with technology. I had always talked about making technology, like the Pi, more accessible. After retirement I started exploring that possibility.

The school Computer Club is a project that keeps me engaged and provides an abundance of returns. There is a box on my business card titled Retired. It doesn't have a check in the box yet.

It took me a while after retiring before I could deal with engineering.

Once the constant pain of my disability eased I was able to re-engage with a small wanna-be company.

So far I am greatly enjoying engineering again, though my ADD issues have limited how fast I can re-engage.

I always enjoyed the challenges of engineering, it was dealing with all of the other stuff that finally convinced me to retire.

DAB I am sure you could do well if not for your medical issues. You are sharp as a tack!
