Ordering from Belgium

......Both Premier Farnell and RS Components have worldwide distribution networks, so wherever you are in the world, you will be able to buy from a local distributor......

 

We Belgians, (and the Dutch as well) ar fu***d.

In Belgium Farnell doesn't sell to individuals.. only companies. They will make an exception if you purchase more than 50 Euro's ex. VAT.. (try finding anything else to buy on a website that's overloaded)

RS-Components doesn't even do that. No company, no sale..

So I head over to the website in The Netherlands. Same story.

Germany does not ship outside Germany. They redirect you to another distributor who doesn't have a clue what a Raspberry Pi is.

  • Just like Peter I didn't have any chance in getting a RP yesterday ....

    I must say I was a bit disapointed about the whole situation.

     

    I got myself a PayPal account in advance because the rasberrypi.com site (now offline?) stated that one colud pay with PayPal.

    (I don't have a credit card, so I could not order in Germany ... not knowing they don't ship outside Germany.)

     

    I guess we Dutch and Belgians have to wait until we can order multiple units ... :-(

    Maybe you'll be lucky and once Rapberry website people receive their shipment, ordering will be available again from their shop along with being able to pay by PayPal. Though whether they'd now make their stock available before E-14's becomes available is doubtful.

    I am planning on buying and using my UK address. If they become available, I am willing to buy more than one and bring them to any user in Belgium interested.

    Aww I am having the same problem I am from Holland and I don't have a creditcard either. Is it possible you can pay with iDEAL?

  • I even went as far to order the raspberry stickers to see if the shop was working properly. But all the trouble was for nothing. I donated the rest of my paypal account to a charity. Will be working on some arduino projects until the raspberry becomes better available.

  • The saga continues...

    At 7:54 AM on THE morning I sent an E-mail to belgiumsales@farnell.com asking if they could reserve me a RPi. At this time the website was under DDOS and when you could get through, you couldnt' order because of the 'rules' described above.

    In the meantime I read the document which describes what the procedure is for individuals.

    This reffered to another e-mail adress: Belgiumfinance@farnell.com, so I sent them an E-mail at 9:47.

    At 10:23 I received a response to my first E-mail. In short it said they thanked me for my order and that I needed to pay 39.95 Euros to confirm my order.

    So I did and I sent a screenshot of my online banking as they requested in their answer.

    Since then, nothing but the sound of silence...

    I guess they want me to que up at the end of the line again..

    So I called Belgium: estimated delivery: May 12th.

    In the mean time my money is sitting in Farnell's account...

    Then I called the lady who sent me the last E-mail.. She told me that at about 9:00 AM on the morning, (local?) management had dicided they (Belgium Sales) had to stop taking orders...

     

    I can only confirm what I've known for a few years now: ONLY IN BELGIUM !

  • That's just stupid. I was so pumped for this and now I hear I can't get one. You can't even get someone in the UK to order multiple pi's and send them to multiple people and I won't be able to get someone send me one from outside Belgium or The Netherlands.

    You'll get one. If you go to the farnell website and put 2081185 in the quick-order box and then go to the shopping cart, you'll notice they now state a lead time of 58 days.

    So I might even get mine 10 days earlier image

    The folks at the Raspberry Pi Foundation are still busy straightening things out with Farnell and RS.. I just hope it doesn't take Farnell Belgium as long as it took some others to form our last governement image

    I just got off the live chat with Farnell.

    This is a translation, original on demand image

     

    Question: What is the status of my order?

    Answer: Estimated delivery is june 6th.

     

    Question: So, am I in the 2nd batch or in the 6th?

    Answer: I can't tell. Depends on the manufacturer.

     

    Question: So the firstcome, first serve principle is no longer valid?

    Answer: Normally yes, but we don't have them. The demand on february 29th was gigantic. Raspberry pi then only had a minimum number

     

    Question: Can I pay with a credit-card or PayPal?

    Answer: Unfortunatly, that's not possible.

     

    Question: I thought the Raspberry Pi Foundation agreed to that with Farnell?

    Answer: You cannot pay with credit-card at Farnell. This is also for the Raspberry Pi.

    Question: OK. Thank you. Good afternoon.

    Answer: Fine. Thanks for the chat. I hope they are back in stock soon. A nice product.

     

    So despite all the efforts made by the Foundation, it still hasn't trickled through everywhere..
