What's Your Pi Plan??

Hi!

Just curious about what people were planning on using their Raspberry Pi's for once they started getting them!??

Current plan- SFF Media PC / NAS etc mounted onto the VESA on the back of my TV

Later plan- Replace car stereo etc with RPi

Probably not the most origional use there but still, godda start somewhere!

The RPi could also be used as a full-fledged firewall with DMZ if using 2 x USB Network adapters, like this one over at Belkin - http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=281799

I guess I'm just too young to be understanding all of the stuff you guys have been doing for 20+ years. Lol being born in 1990 I've kinda had the technical part of everything already done for me. Also I'm sure a lot of you have a background in electrical engineering? My expertise is a little newer technology and systems development life cycle, cloud computing, android, networking, Windows, enterprise resource management, etc... graduating in May, hoping maybe the RPi becomes the next big thing and I can be the one who implements it at schools in my area who don't have the funds for computers.

to buy ten or so.

Enough for a few thin clients at home - ltsp clients.
Build a wireless router and Internet router just because it can be done.
Build a backup file server.
A couple at work - one ltsp client and another as a gnu modula-2 target.
explore performance of ioquake3 with hi-def textures on the R-Pi.

As soon as they let us order more than one - I plan on getting quite a number of them for my cluster project. This little machine finally makes it possible for me to AFFORDABLY realize my project, which has only existed in schematics, up until this point.

Master control for Magnetic Induction man powered bicycle.
Two wheel drive.
No spokes.
No chain.
Set or sensed speed - i.e. as a derailer.
Standard brakes - if power failure.
Wheels - Deep rims with fibre tires.
Generate power - Yup pedal power. Battery storage NO
All the covential handlebar dash - speed/rpm/distance/heart sensor and more
Triangle configuration - UCI standard.

just finished soldering my GPS add-on for the RPi, waiting for some bluetooth module :)

Some preliminary driver programmed on the on-board microcontroller (SERIAL COMM and GPS)

Im making a mobile system to program IC Chips using my Arduino Uno in the field to avoid buying a laptop. I'll be using the screen from an in dash GPS system I salvaged from a wrecked car.
