Hi!

Just curious about what people were planning on using their Raspberry Pi's for once they started getting them!??

Current plan- SFF Media PC / NAS etc mounted onto the VESA on the back of my TV

Later plan- Replace car stereo etc with RPi

Probably not the most origional use there but still, godda start somewhere!

None clue as of yet, just like the idea of an intigrated car system that does what you need it too, and is easily configurable to changing needs.

You got a project in mind?

I'm gonna use mine to try and get my 3 sons into programming. I know my youngest will be interested and it'll certainly hark back to the good old zx80 days using a TV!! image

My first plan for mine is to install XBMC on it and run it as a media centre.

I might also have a look at trying to get a different OS running on there such as netbsd.

Cant wait to get my hands on it and try all these things

I'm going to make a waterproof case and use mine on the boat with a low(ish) power monitor.  It could be: a nava station, GRIB station (with the HF set), general-purpose useful device, W.H.Y?

All of the above... well almost...

New MP3 player to replace my old 486 version (MPG123/MPXPlay revamped code)...

    Network integrated alarm system...

Simple media centre connected to my TV...

While I'm at it, has any considered what other displays might suit (ideally a low cost)?

Anyone come across any discussion related to potential addons?

I'm considering different uses at the moment:

    - small pc to program my arduinos on my workbench

    - integrate it in/on the reprap I'm building so I could have a kind of standalone reprap thingy

    - or whatever I could still imagine before I can put my hands on it :-)

I can envisage applications in the amateur radio context controlling antenna azimuth/elevation for satellite communications,  data communications via radio, generating test patterns for ATV (amateur television) and a host of  other control and number crunching applications.  A great deal of software has already been developed for these applications under Linux.
