Good Afternoon, Mr Powell!
Nice to see you've got your unit up and running. Now, obviously it's a new and (what seemingly appears to be a) fast piece of kit, but what are your initial views and impressions on this new computing device?
Any idea if you've managed to get any Web-Based Java applications running on it yet?
The Guardian is a newspaper which Mike must work for and will have got their Pi from the foundation.
So Mike how does it perform for web browsing and general activities?
Found this tweet from The Guardian with a pic of the Pi:
Interestingly, it looks no different than the beta boards. My understanding was that on the production model the SD card holder would be hidden under the pcb so it didn't poke out so much.
I'm not sure any production boards have hit our shores yet so maybe it is a beta board.
It is obviously a "beta board" (aka prototype) sent to the press. This happens all the time with new hardware.
yes it's a beta board as the production one doesn't have the csi/dsi connectors soldered on
I was thinking maybe it was the "White Guardian" (from a Dr.Who show a long time ago.) Or maybe the Black Guardian just pretending...
Anyway it is great to hear, in however cursory a way, from someone with a working unit ! How do you like it?
