And the kicker is... Farnell doesen't even have any so I have to wait three weeks-ish, but i do get "FREE" delivery!

No, i'm not a penny pinching whinger, and I do think you (might, at some point) get a lot of hardware for a little

money. Just wondering why the media reports for pricing are so misleading?

The Foundation prices the Model B at $35 (US). They buy components in dollars so that's what they price it in.

$35 is pretty much £22 at current exchange rates.

Then there are taxes applicable according to where you buy it.

Then it needs to be shipped to you.

Media reports can't include every combo of sales tax & shipping option.

It's priced like this because for large orders for education (it's intended purpose) will be able to claim back the sales tax and shipping a pallet load is a negligible cost.

Nope, I'm in the UK. I'm actually about a mile from a Farnell depot. The only delivery option available was the "Free" one.

I was asked to create a discussion thread for something related to this (the exta charge incurred on phone orders) after querying it with Farnell - link is here:-

I didn't order over the phone incurring the extra charge. I got up at 5.30am on launch day and waited. At 5.50am I hit the Raspberry Pi website and followed the links. At 6am I decided that RS was a waste of time and pursued the Farnell rout. I then fought for two and a half hours to 1. register, 2. place my order. I got my order placed at 8.38am via the website after a what seemed like a thousand or so attempts and refreshes.
