Chapter 2 should be removed from the Quick Start Guide

The Element14 Quick Start Guide for Raspberry Pi contains some very confusing and dangerous information.

 

Chapter 2 seems to have been taken from http://elinux.org/RPi_Advanced_Setup

If you read the top of this wiki page you will see

 

WARNING: This page is not suitable for the average user. Information in this page is for experienced hackers only.

This page is a community work in progress in preparation for the first users.

This page is based on BeagleBoardBeginners therefore so the serial port info is only appliable only under explained circumstances.

 

As one of the authors of the RPi wiki, I am embarassed that this information has been misused in this way.

 

If the first units are due to be shipped within the next week or two, the guide needs to be fixed immediately.

    As a wiki editor I was pretty happy the way you prepared the articles ... till I read Chapter 2 .

     

    Please note the efforts we put in after that , including some restructuring.

     

    If you keep the guide like this , this WILL have an impact on your monetary and customer service resources !

    (Confused and "normal" average users , misinterpretation etc. )

     

    Please update it ! The new guides are supposed to be more clear and easier .

    It should be pretty easy to do for you , judging by the good work you´ ve put in there.

     

    Hoping this will be fixed as soon as possible.
