Beware of the Trolls.

I'm pretty certain that we have a troll in our midst...

Please don't feed it.

It would be very nice to have an "ignore" feature for the forum. I guess that until that is possible we can resort to the "manual" approach ...

Assuming I'm thinking of the right person, it seems a little weird to want to do a private ban (where at least you don't have to read him) when all he's doing is basically the thing that half the people here did on the RPF forum that got them banned.  Kept spouting off an opposing view in a slightly aggressive manner until the powers that be (which no offense doesn't appear to be the mods over here) got sick of it and wanted to shut them up permanently.  Considering how much the people on this forum pride themselves as being open minded, accepting all points for free discussion, it's a little hypocritical how much censorship of opposing views actually ends up happening.

Disagreeing eloquently with the "popular stance" and trolling are two entirely different things! I'm receiving periodic bursts of static here, but I don't need (or want) anyone else to filter it out - I'll just turn up my "squelch" control a touch.

Too true mate. Trouble is some people here wouldnt know an eloquent discussion if it bit you on the backside. If they did, they wouldn't have been banned over there.

    Truth hurts dude.

Well, consider the bright site, you guys are still here. It's not because of your eloquent discussions.

It's just because "concern trolling" is tolerated here, just like "fanboyism"

But honestly, it's not like you are giving much on topic help to other forum members.

More like you are trying to deliberate provoke people with different meanings.

I even have the impression you hope to be banned so that you could serve as martyr on this forum, proving that it's less tolerant as people say.

Maybe you are just on a missionairy job for a charity foundation to change peoples belief. (yeah right, I am just  speculating)

    No, is this coder27?

Edit: I should note that I don't think it's coder27, I picked a user at random that I felt would be equally absurd assertion

Ok, I must have been mistaken.  You do use Abishur's pet phrases a lot, like "wait a tic".

I'll be honest, I might have run to do a google site search and been a little disappointed when I only found one result (though it was said by abishur).  Not quite what I'd call a pet phrase.

Ok, my mistake.  Do you know the difference between "lose it" and "loose it".  Abishur has trouble with that one.

I believe abishur has said he's dyslexic (and has a sense of humor about it) so I'd give him a brake on spelling problems.  Besides, spelling "lose" as "loose" seems too happen a loot on the Internet.  Spell checking is knot always your fiend, since English doesn't have nearly enough Hamming distance between valid words.  I hope abishur doesn't think I'm whinnying, because I'm knot.

Ok, back to pet phrases.  Who besides Abishur says "gotta agree"?

I believe that his most notable catchphrase is "I'm locking this thread." Good luck with spotting that one over here though. image

In the wake of the Great Non-Reveal I was half expecting a geek chorus of "I'm Abishur and so's my wife!"

Thankfully no thread locking here.  But we have had an interesting request regarding the other forum's mods.

"It seems some of you have had one on one dealings with the mods, which one would be the most receptive to such a PM?"

This comes from someone who claims to be quite familiar with the history of the RPF, including non-public details of funding the alpha boards, and claims to be familiar with chip fabrication issues, and other behind-the-scenes business dealings "the stories I could tell", and who claims to be familiar with USB and other problem reports, but needs our input on no other issues except our opinions of the other forum's mods.

Is the TO-202 triac mentioned in this thread (even Gert responded!)

    http://www.element14.com/community/thread/20133

the same Hutson TO-202 mentioned in this thread?

I've never claimed to have inside info on the funding of the alpha boards, just saying what I've seen publicly stated and yes I've familiarized myself more with the history since my initial posts and just aren't seeing the things being claimed about them. It may come as a surprise, but there are more places than broadcom that manufacture chips. I've done work in one such place and it gets crazy when any piece of equipment goes down.

I asked for suggestions because I've never real themly done any one on one interaction with them and I'd prefer not to be banned for asking one with a short fuse.

I have no idea if he has the same triac as me. Mine has no markings on it. Why on earth are you trying to push this abishur thing on me?
