Beware of the Trolls.

I'm pretty certain that we have a troll in our midst...

Please don't feed it.

As some of you will have noticed, I did not adhere to the very sage advice of "Don't feed the trolls".  This is somewhat unfortunate because trolls always come back for more, but I felt that supplying information might in this case be more helpful.  A good troll ignores information and reason anyway, so we will find out what the situation really is depending on whether he ignores the information given or not.

I decided to try to explain rather than ignore because there is the (very slight) possibility that S M really and truly missed the entirety of the saga on the RPF blog and forum and simply has no idea about the topics that we have been discussing here, however unlikely that may seem.  I know that you'll all be rolling your eyes at this, but it is ever so slightly possible that he will do a full and balanced job of research, realize that he imagined something that does not exist, say he's sorry, and then help expose the problems with Pi hardware, software and organization to a larger audience.

Yes, I know how exceedingly unlikely this is, but I don't think journalistic integrity is totally dead, just very rare.  Anyway, I tried to help.

    Morgaine.

It would be very nice to have an "ignore" feature for the forum. I guess that until that is possible we can resort to the "manual" approach ...

I hope that's not me!  image

Assuming I'm thinking of the right person, it seems a little weird to want to do a private ban (where at least you don't have to read him) when all he's doing is basically the thing that half the people here did on the RPF forum that got them banned.  Kept spouting off an opposing view in a slightly aggressive manner until the powers that be (which no offense doesn't appear to be the mods over here) got sick of it and wanted to shut them up permanently.  Considering how much the people on this forum pride themselves as being open minded, accepting all points for free discussion, it's a little hypocritical how much censorship of opposing views actually ends up happening.

Disagreeing eloquently with the "popular stance" and trolling are two entirely different things! I'm receiving periodic bursts of static here, but I don't need (or want) anyone else to filter it out - I'll just turn up my "squelch" control a touch.

Too true mate. Trouble is some people here wouldnt know an eloquent discussion if it bit you on the backside. If they did, they wouldn't have been banned over there.

    Truth hurts dude.

Well, consider the bright site, you guys are still here. It's not because of your eloquent discussions.

It's just because "concern trolling" is tolerated here, just like "fanboyism"

But honestly, it's not like you are giving much on topic help to other forum members.

More like you are trying to deliberate provoke people with different meanings.

I even have the impression you hope to be banned so that you could serve as martyr on this forum, proving that it's less tolerant as people say.

Maybe you are just on a missionairy job for a charity foundation to change peoples belief. (yeah right, I am just  speculating)

    No, is this coder27?

Edit: I should note that I don't think it's coder27, I picked a user at random that I felt would be equally absurd assertion

Ok, I must have been mistaken.  You do use Abishur's pet phrases a lot, like "wait a tic".

I'll be honest, I might have run to do a google site search and been a little disappointed when I only found one result (though it was said by abishur).  Not quite what I'd call a pet phrase.
