What is the *expected* Element14 response to expression of interest?

morgaine
morgaine over 13 years ago

I've been here on Element14 since November 2011, as eager to get my hands on an Rpi as everybody else.

I registered my interest with Element 14 within the launch week, (I avoided the chaos of the first few days on purpose.)  What's more, I screen-capped the confirmation screen at the time,  Expecting everything to be fine, I sat back and patiently waited for the email that the confirmation screen said was coming soon.

And waited and waited ... nothing arrived in the mail at all.  Yes, I did check the spam folder regularly as well as the inbox, and yes, the email address is correct (as I said, I took a screen cap, just in case, and of course I have since checked and rechecked that everything was indeed correct)..

After nearly a fortnight of waiting, and noticing that many people have received a confirmation email, I filled in the same form again, and included a note about my earlier registration.  (Again it was successful, and I took a screen cap of this registration too.)  And waited, and waited.

Another week has passed, and still nothing.

Knock, knock .... is anybody there?  HELLO??????

I'm a UK customer of Farnell, and they give me *PERFECT* service, with immediate response. This Element 14 response is certainly not that.

What should have happened?   What do I do now?  It's like talking to a black hole.

Is this zero response correct, or should I have received an acknowledgement email?  [ANSWER FROM Element 14 STAFF PLEASE.]

Yours sincerely frustrated,

Morgaine.

    Hello Morgaine,

I think my expected response from Element14 would be some sort of communication, but this is only expected, not experienced.

I can second the good experience with Farnell, I have been getting e-mails and also polite people on the phone if I feel the need to call them 'just to check' :-) They must be completely fed up with it I should think, but always a professional response.

I have had mails from RS, the same as Chris above, saying there is testing going on. Not sure how this impacts on Farnell (I would presume the same) but they seem to be able to give prospective shipping dates.

@Chris, the mailing list on the Raspi website is next to useless, please don't expect any information to come from that source. The only time they have used it is to make people aware of the rather botched launch 'event' and that mail seemed to make it to less than half of the people registered. Also the official Raspi forum doesn't take too kindly to people asking 'probing' questions there, I think I am right in saying that Morgaine has had at least one thread closed for asking similar questions.

    Steve

@Steve:  Well the Foundation's position these days is "Go and talk to RS/Farnell".

Which would be fine in theory, except for the little problem that Farnell's site redirects RasPi queries to Element 14, and Element 14 is not communicating at all.

Add those two things together and the result is clearly unsatisfactory.

    Morgaine.
