blog updated: 100,000+ units to ship by end of June

  Can you please help us understand the latest blog entry?

 

Will the 100,000+ units all arrive in one batch, or will they arrive in

smaller installments?

 

Do you have a substantial number of expressions of interest from

people who haven't yet been invited to order? 

 

Will the May and June batches incorporate any hardware changes?

 

How many units do you expect in the May batch?

        I hope that we get some information that you are asking for, but if you look at the RPF blog entry from Jenny through Liz, Jenny states that there are some aspects that as a business, element14 won't answer.  I suspect that as we have seen since launch, the responses to our queries will vary greatly from silence to helpful (like the most recent blog post).

  • I sure hope they get this all sorted out so we can get some good answers.  I can't wait until we start to receive them.  I'm going to be one happy person.

  • I seem to recall that the batch-size / batch-arrival question has been answered in part, namely that production will be continuous and shipments out of China once a month.  That would make sense.

     

    However, no numbers were given, so your question is still a good one, coder27.  If it is confirmed that 100,000 is the expected per-month shipment size then the waiting queues will be drained rapidly in just a few months, which would be excellent news.

     

    If that's not the case though, then we'll still have long queues and disappointment and 1-per-person restrictions well into 2013. :-(

     

    So yes, that's a very good question to ask Element 14.

     

    STOP PRESS: Jenny's latest info on the blog answers this question, indirectly.  100,000 cannot be the monthly shipment size otherwise Element 14's 100,000 confirmed preorders would not take until the end of June to satisfy.  It must be half that, or less, since 3 shipments are expected between today and end of June.
